THE TWO STARS ABOVE

Poem composed May 25, 2009

Two distant stars above
Glancing at each other
In search of true love
Longing to be together

Wandering in the night sky alone
Wondering if they would ever find home
In their journey across the milky way
Both have so many things to say

Yet they never had the chance to share
And never had the opportunity to care
Trapped in two distant galaxies
From far away they can only see

One another they have stared for years
For decades a meeting they have yearned
Pondering if mutual affection can be earned
Yet a real rendezvous both do fear

For the edict of destiny in any merger
Is either a blissful union of true lovers
Or yet another tragic star-crossed lovers
In which they will then depart as strangers

This poem is dedicated to someone who asked me out for a very late dinner and then bailed last minute... I knew the person was going to cancel on me and this poem just sprung from my heart and true enough, after I wrote the first two lines... the person called to cancel... Never thought that my poetry can be this prophetic...
