Poem composed on April 26, 2009
Rays of the morning sun formed a shillouette
Separating me from your departing shoulder
I had hoped the run would be a side by side duet
Yet I was behind as the last in line of the order
I was behind by steps of more than eleven
Ambling down the street in my own slow pace
Still my heart felt the exploding joy of heaven
As long as once again your shadow I can trace
I closed my eyes to feel the passing breeze
And then… suddenly… you were next to me
By reputation your speed beats the wind with ease
Yet you slowed down… just for an unworthy me
A pair of birds chirping inside a tree canopy
A pair of swans gliding on the pond surface
Right there… side by side pacing in harmony
I was captivated by the radiant hue of your face
If a wish could command the clock to stop ticking
Then let everything come to a halt at this moment
To stop hearts from running away… from denying
To end the torment of unjust stereotypical judgment
