THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER

Poem composed on May 29, 2009

They tell me to marry for the sake of money

Place myself on the high pedestal throne

Even if that means being one of his honeys

As long as I get to have half of what he owns

With this humble heaven blessed beauty

I should use it to make myself wealthy

Through the inheritance of his family

Secure myself well against poverty

Drink the vineyard’s best wines

Along with finest fancy dines

Expensive jet-ride trips overseas

Appear in prestigious magazines

But all I ever need… All I really want…

Is time where the two of us could meet

The only thing I want, the only thing I need

Is you saying that I‘m the one, your only one

Coz for a union, what I truly yearn

Is not how much you can earn

But simply the time you can give

For you are the sole reason I live

When I switch off the bedside light

You are there back home every night

In your embrace holding me tight

Even bad days will just turn right

Morning arrives greeted by your kisses

In which not a single day you ever miss

A simple family with a lot of happy kids

Is better than wishes of material riches

What good is a handsome fine face

If it glances towards another lady

I’d rather caress your imperfect face

Knowing that it looks only at me

I would like to let and set your heart free

To run and roam as far as it wants to be

Confident that you will always return to me

Coz you have finally found your home in me
