Poem composed on April 7, 2009
During the Wine and Whine session last Sunday April 5, 2009. We switched off the lights of the alfresco dining foyer and start to lit the candles when suddenly, one of us burst into; “When the lights are low”. Then verses after starts emerging…
When the lights are low
Feelings down and below
It is time to keep it slow
Just go with the flow
And savor the dim glow
Not all days are sunny bright yellow
When the heart is empty and hollow
Feelings can sometimes be mellow
Just leave it alone and let it fallow
In faith trust that better days will follow
So what if stupid Cupid missed his arrow
There is no use drowning oneself in sorrow
Spread wings wide and fly free like a sparrow
Continue the search for the missing bone marrow
And perhaps the next love is only as far as tomorrow
Spring shall arrive to melt the cold bitter snow
When the warm gentle whistling breezes blow
The seeds of passion one shall begin to sow
And then once again tender affection shall grow
This time no longer one but two roses in a row
