BITTER vs. SWEET

Poem composed on April 30, 2009

She is still bittered though he treats her sweetly
He feels she is sweet though she treats him bitterly
She smiles sweetly, yet what he feels is bitterness
He chided her bitterly, yet she feels sweetness

Why do some feel bittered when treated sweetly
Why do some feel sweet when treated bitterly
Could bitterness eventually leads to sweetness…
As much as sweetness soon leads to bitterness…

After the sweetness has vanished, what is left is bitterness
After the bitterness has evaporated, what is left is sweetness
For sweetbitter individuals leave bittersweet memories
And bittersweet personalities leave sweetbitter tragedies

THE FRAGILE FEMININE HEART…

Poem composed on April 29, 2009

The fragile feminine heart is a glowing crystal chandelier
With mystique illuminating through the glittering gems
Studded with colored jewels of emotion it shines lovelier
With smiles and sorrows dancing in the pulse of a rhythm

An Amethyst whispers mysterious gentleness
A Ruby slithers on alluring deep sensuality
An Emerald caresses evergreen faithfulness
A Diamond embraces a destiny of eternity

In the vast grand foyer of high-ceiling arches
Hanging on a thin satin line stretching from above
The crystal chandelier parades its loaded branches
As if a fragile feminine heart fully immersed in love

A word of sword by a masculine defaulting on his promises
Slashes through the sustaining thin satin line of trust
Gravity deeply inhales in extension of its deathly kisses
Pulling the chandelier to the hard reality of the earth’s crust

In a roar of thunder the crystal chandelier is broken
In a flash of lightning the adorned jewels are shattered
Engulfed in an abyss of misery that could not be spoken
The fragile feminine heart is betrayed and destroyed

THE 10 NAZI COMMANDMENTS

Poem composed on April 13, 2009

THE 10 NAZI COMMANDMENTS

1. Thou shall...
Obey Madam Hitler’s demand
As the sole valid command
Lest come the court remand
And then the brutal reprimand

2. Thou shall…
Be welcomed regardless of whether you are a Choleric
A Sanguine, a Phlegmatic or a Melancholic
As long as you are a true blue alcoholic
And could karaoke sing your way to magic

3. Thou shall…
Enjoy the Nazi indulgence to pleasure
Through Swastika holiday tour leisure
But please no stubborn childish seizure
Or else you’re dismissed by peer pressure

4. Thou shall…
Share your brethrens’ obsession for food
By strictly observing Sunday Noodle’s day
Care for your brethrens’ changing of mood
By observing if they behave in a different way

5. Thou shall…
Attend the Wine and Whine session
With honesty outpour your depression
Indulge in unfulfilled hidden passion
And take advantage by searching for affection

6. Thou shall…
(If you do find yourself in some kind of attraction)
Immediately bring to Madam Hitler’s attention
For Madam Hitler is so ready for consultation
And even provide ‘Bazhi’ compatibility calculation

7. Thou shall…
Remember that Madam Hitler makes the decisions
Overruling all sorts of complaints and objections
Even those that speaks of the truth and precision
Or the consequence could be violent aggression

8. Thou shall…
Avoid self-picture posting narcissism as a culture
For strangers compliments violate the Nazi nurture
Or Madam Hitler’s veto shall be exercised
And believe me… you shall be traumatized

9. Thou shall…
Avoid self-proclamation to gorgeousness
For come on, it is simply outrageousness
For only Madam Hitler is allowed to be haughty
And segregate the true ‘hottie’ from the ‘nottie’

10. Thou shall…Participate in real life tragic dramas
Seizing the glamorous main role
Rejecting the gloomy supporting role
For we are always there to heal traumas

THROUGH ALL THINGS THAT HAPPEN

Poem composed April 12, 2009

Through all things that happen
Be it sensations that sweeten
Or separations that sadden
We’re always here to enlighten

From the first meet that had you smitten
With love’s vigorous viper venom bitten
Where your heart was instantly stolen
We were there in the same tone of emotion

To bitter times when you were forsaken
Those moments when you feel forgotten
Gatherings in which you were abandoned
We were right there carrying your burden

Certain things are best when left unspoken
For good heeds can be too harsh to be taken
But trust that all things have been written
In due time destiny’s will shall be risen

We are always here as your Nazi brethrens
Most precious treasure life has begotten
As if a safe protective island of haven
As if a colorful ray sunshine that brightens

No matter what happens in our life... Sweetness or Sorrow.... through thick or thin... Trials or Denials... The Nazi brethrens shall prevail... Share and care... We carry each other through... A toast to that... till WW III (not World War III but Wine and Whine III) Hail Madam Hitler...

THE SLING THAT CLINGS

Poem composed on April 12, 2009

Time will eventually tell
And fate shall then spell
The magic word of love
As delivered by doves

In Singapore’s Clark Quay
He finally found the key
To her long sealed heart
Breaking the lock apart

Patience is a virtue
With that love so true
He overcame barriers
And became her warrior

In that scary sling on sight
She found herself in fear
In that wild ride of the night
Her feelings became clear

It was him all the way
By her side always
It was him all along
In whom she truly belongs

“No I won’t do it”
She retreated coyly
“It’s not worth it”
She said shyly

“I’m here by your side”
He replied her
“You’ll enjoy the ride”
He convinced her

Two people inside a sling
Two hearts beat in a swing
As the two were elevating
They found themselves embracing

In the sling that clings to the heart…

THE ONLY ONE IN YOUR HEART

Poem composed on April 10, 2009

The magical stardust his smile twinkles
The shooting firecrackers his eyes sprinkles
His bronze complexion glaze tastes of cinnamon
His perfect composure illustrates a fine gentleman

Yet they were not mine to hold but hers…

She grasps him in close control by the heart
And play him around as if flying a kite
Guessing in the dark from the side
It’s a matter of time before she departs

Yet I am the one worried, oh how it hurts…

Still he faithfully tails her as if a dog
Meanwhile she treats him as if a hog
To her at best he was a mere escapade
A part of the entourage in her parade

Yet I am the one enraged with my veins about to burst…

I am trapped in this miserable shudder of emotion
For your charm has bewitched me with poison
I am encapsulated in this corrupting delusion
For I could grant you better affectionate attention

Yet the only one in your heart... is her…

It’s very heartbreaking to find oneself liking another, yet that other likes another. Still it gets complicated if that latter other is abusing the former other… It just breaks one’s heart to know that he/she can give better affection to that other, yet that other prefers being abused by another…

CAN’T LET HER GO...

Poem Composed on April 10,2009

Storyline: Dm secretly likes L, since Dn and L, the two are always bickering, in Dm’s jealous mind (which is not true and merely excessive thoughts); Dn is a player who abuses L’s sincere liking for Dn. Dm, in denial… writes a poetry about how he can’t let L go…

The magical stardust her smile twinkles
The shooting firecrackers her eyes sprinkles
Her ivory complexion glaze tastes so milky
Her perfect composure illustrates a fine lady

Yet they were not mine to hold but another’s…

He grasps her in close control by the heart
And play her around as if flying a kite
Watching in the dark from the side
It’s a matter of time before he departs

Yet I am the one worried, oh how it hurts…

Still she faithfully tails him as if a dog
Meanwhile he treats her as if a hog
To him at best she was a mere escapade
A part of the entourage in his parade

Yet I am the one enraged with my veins about to burst…

I am trapped in this miserable shudder of emotion
For her charm has bewitched me with poison
I am encapsulated in this corrupting delusion
For I can never have her affectionate attention

Yet in this tormenting denial I still can't let go of her…

TWO EYES, TWO HEARTS

Poem composed April 9, 2009

Inspired by April 3, 2009’s Nazi Karaoke Session at T-Rex... I always wonder what could happen in a Karaoke room, I mean since the room will be noisy and so I figure anyone interested in someone would just be staring across at each other with no words said and so this poem is an attempt to capture that ‘I look at you, you look at me, I think about you, you think about me, yet we’re both silent and shy’

HERS ON HIM

One peep
“Starry eyes... ohh that twirl”
Another peek
“Soft smile, hmm that curl”
Yet another peer
“White teeth... ahh shiny pearls”
Still she had to see
“Defined dimples... sigh that swirl”

HIS ON HER

One glance...
“Check out that chick”
Another observance...
“Smooth and slick”
Yet another surveillance...
“Eye lashes that flicks”
Still he examine her presence...
“Perhaps with her I can click”

Her eyes are looking at the singer
Yet she’s following his shaddow
His conversation are meant for another
Yet towards her he’s hoping it will flow

The evening slowly grows old as throats grow dry
And the only glass of wine left could well satisfy
Both reaching for it, each other’s hand they felt
Instantly two eyes locked and two hearts melt…

After the audiences guessed who the two were... there were some problems and scandals created and so I had to come up with a mini poem to stop them from guessing and instead make them all relate to the story...

Different guesses and thoughts let us all align
For a poet observing need not be so maligned
Let’s indulge in ambiguity and let go of the story
That way we all get to keep the alluring mystery

Imagination is such powerful tool
It could convert anyone into a fool
Re-read the poem and try to relate
And a fantasy lover you shall create

AND THEY BECAME LOVERS...

Poem composed on April 8, 2009

This poem is inspired by the bet that most of us made yesterday in another Wine and Whine session at No Signboard Seafood on (you know who and who) as ignited by KS our Madam Hitler… A quote from D; “It’s like back in Kindergarten when you pinch a girl that means you like that girl” and of course denial is in the air…

PROLOGUE...

She can’t stand the way he snicker
He can’t understand her weird temper
They can’t take it when they bicker
Plus the audience makes life harder

AGAIN AND AGAIN...

In every argument, in each matter
She strives to win like a fighter
He exchanges insults as if a barter
And both then throw the cold shoulder

Crossing beyond courtesy they grew wilder
Her tiny little mistakes he always remember
She has a list of his offenses as a reminder
The action drama grew brutal and bolder

BUT THEN AGAIN...

With each day she grew lovelier
With each call he grew gentler
With each second she grew sweeter
With each moment he grew softer

With each meet… they grew milder
With each battle… they grew closer
With each touch… they grew tender
With each parting… they grew fonder

EPILOGUE...

With a secure feeling… she starts to wonder
With a clear reasoning… he starts to ponder
With a heart of longing… they start to consider
With a passionate seal of a kiss… they became lovers

WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE LOW

Poem composed on April 7, 2009

During the Wine and Whine session last Sunday April 5, 2009. We switched off the lights of the alfresco dining foyer and start to lit the candles when suddenly, one of us burst into; “When the lights are low”. Then verses after starts emerging…

When the lights are low
Feelings down and below
It is time to keep it slow
Just go with the flow
And savor the dim glow

Not all days are sunny bright yellow
When the heart is empty and hollow
Feelings can sometimes be mellow
Just leave it alone and let it fallow
In faith trust that better days will follow

So what if stupid Cupid missed his arrow
There is no use drowning oneself in sorrow
Spread wings wide and fly free like a sparrow
Continue the search for the missing bone marrow
And perhaps the next love is only as far as tomorrow

Spring shall arrive to melt the cold bitter snow
When the warm gentle whistling breezes blow
The seeds of passion one shall begin to sow
And then once again tender affection shall grow
This time no longer one but two roses in a row

WINE AND WHINE RIDDLE

Poetic riddle composed on April 6, 2009

On the Wine and Whine session held on April 5, 2009, this is the little poetic riddle we came up with... On attendance were KS, DL, IK, CY & HG and myself...

The lights were low
Someone suggested a blow
But wait, let’s go slow
Just let it naturally flow
And you shall see the glow

Try figuring out what the above verses are talking about…

At first glance you may think ‘foreplay’
But actually it’s talking about ‘candle’
hahaha enjoy…

AT LEAST THIS WAY... YOU’RE STILL MINE

Poem composed April 5, 2009

Others may differently say
But I like you just that way
I do not see who is physically better
For it is the inner heart that matters

I find both tranquility and purity
In that gentle heart full of sincerity
As if a child so innocent and true
Makes me wish I were with you

Yet I wouldn’t know what to do
When I really do meet you
My lips in silence might be tight
Or I might just run off and hide

I am so lost and confused
What I feel I don’t understand
Nothing happened I should pretend
Oh please let this feeling be diffused!

I can’t repress this feeling
But yet I can’t overcome it either
Stuck in between believing & denying
In this mess like a flower I wither

Looking at your picture, as the closest to you I can get
I find the shadow of my first love when we first met
And I had hoped you would complete it as the last
Yet you are merely another repetition of the past

Thus so let me just run away freely
To the furthest corner the earth can set
Hide and confine me in the dark alley
Beneath the shady shelter of the sunset

Let me vanish like the midnight vapor
Tossed away like salt in raging waves
Let the burning fire of passion devour
Let the raging storm of confusion raves

At least this way… You’re still mine

Some of us run away when we like someone because the heart is not ready to face reality; the potentiality of being rejected... Sometimes it's better to run off and hide because this way one can keep the person close to the heart and mind... till one day... that person has found another one and in one relieving exhale... we can finally let the person go...

WINE AND WHINE II

Poem composed April 4, 2009

To wine and then whine
Always make one feel fine
Unravel the hearts…
Reveal the cards…

A toast to free flowing conversation
As we caress the ripples of emotion
Thanks to a St. Julien and a Henschke
Tipsiness jumpstart our thought journey…

Somewhat it is always the mind
That could turn one so blind
Illusion makes ‘that person’ one of a kind
Good judgment you can no longer find

Denial grows just like the vine
Twisting and turning in the mind
The truth and reality no longer matter
Because fantasy taste so much better

Endless drama after drama
Eventually lead us to trauma
Still we continue indulging
In the same roundabout encircling

Till dizziness
Heartbrokenness
And emptiness
Make us realize its endlessness

After a wine and whine session with friends...

K contributed to the main story line of it... you know about how she wondered why a certain someone in our circle do not realize that a certain someone is not a good person... guess who... hahaha...

C & H contributed to the denial part... I think if I remembered correctly C mentioned someone was in a denial and invited someone to the wine and whine session (but she didn't turn up in the end) ouch, within friends it's okay to be honest right... And H did come up with McKinsey 'off hour' evaluation and reasons as to why the person is not good enough - clearly someone was in denial and need some supporting evidence...

Drama after drama is so K & E - they are taiwanese drama maniacs and I remembered X encircling the bunderan HI and I thought it's so like all of us encircling in the drama of life... Reveal the card comes from E & C who wanted to play cards oops...

The 'a toast to free flowing conversation' is quoted from JoJo (I just remembered that X requested to be identified as JoJo in our poems)

And indulgence that term comes from D. So I hope this is all of us and our wine and whine...

THE ONE YOU HAVE SELECTED

Poem composed on April 2, 2009

The dark curtain and silhouette parted
As ‘The Godfather’ theme song started
Guests making grand flashy entrances
As the charity party commences

You and I caught the existence of each other
At the same time… in same way…
Yet immediately you looked away
Walking away… towards… ahh… her…

The blitz from the cameras were blinding
Just like your tender touch around her waist
In a pose where fiery affection so ablaze
Captured in photographs of everlasting…

Struck, I realized what was happening
The sudden eureka kept me gazing
Shocked, I made my way to the side
Out of your way, out of your sight

As if a flamingo she was dazzling
In her glamorous sway strutting
In the dark corner of the ballroom shaken
I realized that I was merely a scruffy raven

In this drama, she was the paraded main actress
Whose company you seek forth in public gatherings
To fill your prime time Friday and Saturday evenings
While I was as if the hidden spare time mistress

Once again outside the ballroom
Our path crossed in the atrium
You said I behaved as if a stranger
Yet haven’t you yourself grown colder?

Her natural born charisma matches that of yours
As much as her running speed matches that of yours
In the same activities you and her go side by side at par
What can I say but she’s the best for you thus far

So forgive the stranger attitude in my ignorance
And the cold icy persona in my silence
For those are my language of passion
In wishing you and her a happy union

Forget about the poems I wrote you
Forget about the moments we shared too
Coz’ in fantasy I hold you close and dear
Yet in reality you hold her close and dear

Inside my heart were screaming rolling thunders
Unwilling to lose such a good person of character
Yet at the end of the day, there was no need to ponder
That the one and only best for you was definitely her

We parted at last… When out of the ballroom she emerged
In which immediately you responded with a sudden urge
Left behind, I watched the back of your shoulder
Disappearing… away from me… towards her…

As a wave of emotion engulfed me so true and tender…
I closed my eyes having finally accepted …
That the one you have selected…
Is not me but her…

This poem is inspired by a true experience… With 80% accuracy and 20% dramatized effect. I love sweet sorrow…
