GOODBYE IS THE GREETING, SILENCE IS THE SENTENCE, FAREWELL IS THE FULLSTOP

Poem composed on July 22, 2009

2 participants in a chat window

Xxxxx Xxxxxxx , Xxxxx Xxxxxxx

Xxxxx Xxxxxxx: Xxxxx…
Xxxxx Xxxxxxx: Xxxxx…

The chat window popped out and she typed in his name. He responded by typing her name back and then the chat was over. No one felt the need to add any statement. No one felt the need to ask any questions. It was all there is.

Brisk and brief
Cold and confused
Lost and lonely

Longing but not looking
Missing but not meeting
Wanting but not waiting

Goodbye is the greeting
Silence is the sentence
Farewell is the fullstop

Style of poem: No rhyming this time, just alliteration. This poem is about two individuals who chat online but the only thing they did was type in each other’s name… between them things are not working and thus so they really do not know what to say to each other because there is nothing else left to say. They are at lost for words… and emotion...

NO PAST… NO FUTURE… JUST THE PRESENT…

Duet style poem composed on July 18, 2009

Not boiling… not freezing… just settling…
Not living... not dying… just breathing…

Not temporal… not eternal… just momental…
Not partial… not unconditional… just substantial…

Not progressing… not deproving… just surviving...
Not constructing… not destructing… just standing...

No hating… no loving… just feeling…
No suffering… no rejoicing… just contenting...

No stability… no calamity… just serenity...
No loyalty… no treachery… just serendipity...

No resentment… no commitment… just enjoyment...
No past… no future… just the present…

The poem is about ambiguity… Trapped in between two worlds be it career, business or relationship most of the time we are stuck in the middle of things. Still we should be reminded to enjoy whatever comes to our lives… forgive and forget the past, never mind about the future and just enjoy the present - that is why it is called the ‘present’ because it is a gift of life…

In terms of style, this poem is best suited to be a duet poem between a male and a female voice – trapped in a mutual attraction but an ambiguous relationship, each of them will throw a line one after another and at the very last two lines with one voice end the poem together.

Disclaimer: Poem inspired by friends who are going through this.

I JUST WANT TO BE WITH YOU

Poem composed on July 16, 2009

I don’t understand your complex personality
I don’t know anything about compatibility
I don’t know much about your sincerity

I care not about your past
I care not who was your last
I care not about proceeding fast

I can’t predict the distant future
I can’t tell if things will ever mature
I can’t figure out what I feel for sure

But I know what is true…
I just can’t run away from you
I just want to be with you

This is another simple, sincere straight from the heart poem to tell the truth in the simplest form that… I just want to be with you… Inspired by a friend who is going through this.

FAULT FINDING

Poem composed on July 16, 2009

I understand in liking me you don’t feel quite right
Not much different the thought of you I do resent
Just as how your family’s opinion of me you dissent
The thought of you and I together I try hard to fight

As much as you don't, I don’t like being confused
Trapped in silly ambiguosity hanging in the line
We’ve survived being single for such a long time
The idea of being addicted to someone I refused

Thus so let us strive to repel each other
By finding our ex-es faults in one another
Let’s judge and stereotype each other
Say mean things to hurt one another

Surely one fine day we shall finally succeed
In strangling each other till we internally bleed
And we shall with real proof show one another
That each of us deserve better than each other

This is also inspired by a recent case where the two seems to be attracted to each other but outwardly they show resentment against each other. They blame each other for making each other like each other…Thanks to the confusing experience that I am able to compose such a poem.

I JUST CAN’T LET YOU GO

Poem composed on July 16, 2009

The further I run, the closer I get to you
The longer I delay, the faster the paces
The deeper I conceal, the more it surfaces
The more I hide, the nearer I am to you

As if the North and South poles
We reside in two different homes
Yet there exist a law of attraction
That pulls the two grounds to a union

Thus so the more we resent each other
The more we scrutinize for differences
The more we tab weaknesses as references
The harder it is to let go of one another

Magnetic fields might be invisible
But for orientation it is responsible
Suddenly moving on we are unable
Togetherness is resented but probable

The further I run, the closer I get to you
The longer I delay, the faster the paces
The deeper I conceal, the more it surfaces
The more I hide, the nearer I am to you

I just can’t let you go…

This is inspired by a case I came across recently where the two resented the thought of being together but they can’t get away from each other…

AFRAID OF…

Poem composed on July 16, 2009

The first time our eyes met… I was afraid of knowing you
The first time I got to know you… I was afraid of touching you
The first time we touched… I was afraid of kissing you
The first time our lips met… I was afraid of liking you
Now that I like you… I am afraid of losing you

But one day when I have to lose you… I guess I have to let go of you

This is purposefully created to be simple and plain… just pure emotion, no word play to denote sincerity of the heart… Just as it is with no sugar coating and big jargon words… Simple and true… enjoy… btw this is inspired by what a friend is going through…
