'MERE FRIENDS'

Poem composed February 5, 2006

When your eyes I caught
Looking at me through the mirror reflection
Softly uttering tender thoughts
Yet lips tightly closed in perfection

When your eyes I realized
Following me around as I sway
Holding me as a captive, mesmerized
Yet you were observing from very far away

A season filled with laughter
The following season full of silence
Blinded from what you are after
Should I wait in persistence?

It is there, but quite not
Halfway in between existence
Not cold, but yet not hot
Not vapor, yet not substance

Feeling it but not responding
Tormented but keep avoiding
Running away but always thinking
Denying out loud but inside admitting

Like a stubborn steel that won’t bend
Or stirring oil with water that just won’t blend
Or trapped running in a circle with no end
That’s what we are, ‘mere friends’

Poem inspired by friends; this couple who is experiencing mutual romance, yet the masculine side is so full of pride that he just won’t admit it! Stubborn, stubborn, stubborn! As a result, the feminine side feels confused and both parties are trying to run away from each other and are trapped in an invisible relationship I termed ‘mere friends’.

THAT SOMEONE, THAT PERSON

Poetry composed February 4, 2006

That someone, that person
Who gazed at him across the table
Whose heart his eyes had poisoned
Which as a result saying words she’s unable

The one his skin he asked her to feel
Warm surface electrifying
Whose heart warm air is flowing
In an instant that feeling is sealed

Yes, she was the one
Who saw stars in the night sky
Hoping to be what he wants
Yet he always seems to pass her by

Poetry inspired by what a friend is going through

YOUR FATHER REALLY LOVES YOU

Poetry composed February 2, 2006

White hair speaks of wisdom
While discipline speaks of concern
No father would give a poison
To his own beloved son

No father is rejoicing
When his child he is reprimanding
Instead his heart feels hollow
And full of silent sorrow

He looks back in pain to the expensive clothings
He had lavished his son to wear
Personally chosen good things
His son had misplaced somewhere

Trust me my dear
It is your future your father fear
You will be a father someday
To your son you will be the same way

Dedicated to Aaron my friend. Your father really loves you. No one could love you more than the way he loves you. His love is unconditional.

PATIENTLY PRAYING FOR YOU

Poetry composed on February 2, 2006

I have been singing songs of youth
In my mind hearing poetries
In my heart feeling stories
Since the first day I met you

Yet all you see was another
All you hear were your own cries
All you feel were your desire
Crying over her ‘Good Byes’

How you had loved her so
How she had said her ‘No’
How she had promised you forever
Yet now she’s found another

I watched your pain silently
Feeling it in my heart seeping
Stabbing… wounding…
Yet amazingly…

There was a rush of strength
As I get down on my knees
And prayed at length
That you may find bliss

The Lord is full of grace
And will find you a place
Where your heart could call home
Where you will never be alone

As for me, all I have is this simple poetry
Where I hide my faith, hope and love
I have always set you free
To fly high like a dove

If you are really mine
One day you will return to me
Perfectly just in time
Where one, the two of us will be

Poem inspired by a friend who is going through this.

SEARCHING FOR YOU

Poetry composed February 2, 2006

Hither tither I’ve searched for you
Morning full of headaches
Evening full of heartaches
My dear, where are you?

Your absence made me realize
You, I cannot live without
With you I live in paradise
Without you it’s all black out

Return to me
Stay with me for eternity
Like a painter who can’t live without his pallet
I can’t live without you my precious maroon wallet

Poem inspired by a friend who is going through this.

FINE WINE

Poetry composed on February 1, 2006

So warm the taste of wine
Perfect company for a good dine
Talking to you on the phone line
Always make me feel fine

Poem inspired by a friend who is going through this.

THE ONE

Poetry composed on February 1, 2006

Close your eyes and don’t peek
My butterfly kisses on your cheek
Pure white skin that I’ve missed
Cherry lips begging to be kissed

The very one I’ve searched for
In many lands, in every weather
Tired of missing you with heart full of sore
Stay by my side forever…

Poem inspired by a friend who is going through this.

LOSING A GOOD FRIEND

Poetry composed January 31, 2006

I there is a thing, something
I can give up or sacrifice
I would! It’s not a lot I am asking
A conversation with you will suffice

A mere casual companion
Is it too much to ask?
Instead away from you I’m cast
Confused with no explanation

Endless talk time on the phone
Countless days together
Now I know they are not forever
Without you I’m just all alone

In the stillness I wait
Outburst of emotion I tamed
The price of losing you I paid
Then a chance of conversation came…

You said ‘Hi’
Yet I know it’s a ‘good bye’
You said it has come to an end
I knew right there, I’ve lost a good friend

This poem is inspired by my good friend who is losing her good friend. It is a sad tale when one loses a friend. If I may say something, I would love to say to this good friend of mine that I think I may know how you feel and that we must trust God to take care of everything. God sends us a particular person at a point of time in our lives for a specific purpose and through this life journey there will be separations as much as there will be reconciliation. There is a purpose in everything and it is not always known in the present. All of the pain we are going through will shape our character to be a much stronger person where we can be the light and salt of the world.
